Global Business School Network Annual Conference

DFI Moderated Panel – Global Business School Network Annual Conference

Emilio Bunge, Managing Director of DFI, moderated a panel at GBSN’s Annual Conference attended by 63 universities from 33 countries as well as representatives from non-profits and the private sector. The theme of this year’s conference, held in Washington DC from November 1st-3rd, was “Intersections of Business Education and Economic Development.”

Emilio moderated a timely panel focused on Higher Education and the Sustainable Development Goals. He was joined on the panel by Professor Maj-Britt Hedvall, Associate Dean and Director of Research and Internationalization at Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland and Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie, Executive Secretary of the African Capacity Building Foundation.

Emilio and the other presenters offered insight into ways in which their institutional values and mission impacted their approach to the SDGs, examples of the challenges their institutions face in achieving the SDGs, and examples of specific sustainability and capacity building initiatives they have integrated into their approach. The panelists also led a lively discussion in which conference attendees shared strategies for building a culture of sustainability, addressing the youth skills mismatch and incorporating R&D into curricula, engaging stakeholders,  and replicating successes.
