Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Emerging Markets
DFI’s CEO, Emilio Bunge, presented to the International Battery & Energy Storage Alliance (IBESA)to provide members with a snapshot of IFI activities relating to BESS, sample IFI projects and financing, and details on procurement, timing, decision makers, and other priorities.
BESS will play a critical role in the IFI’s efforts to support modern and resilient energy grids. With surging demand for grid-scale BESS solutions, the IFIs have already catalyzed $10B of funding for BESS projects across 40 countries. In addition, the IFIs have launched initiatives such as the World Bank’s Energy Storage Partnership to promote collaboration with industry leaders to replicate and scale international best practices. IBESA members with established BESS track-records are in an ideal position to win IFI business.
